Innovation on the move: Digicon presents smart solutions for urban mobility

Smart cities represent a conceptual model of urban development that is based on the use of human, collective and technological capital to improve urban roads. Smart cities create different business opportunities, in addition to the possibility of collaboration between the public and private sectors. One of the main points is to improve urban mobility in cities.

Thinking about this concept, Digicon offers several solutions for traffic management that help to optimize the circulation of vehicles and pedestrians on the streets. Check out some available solutions below:

Digicon’s Traffic Controllers are fully modular, allowing equipment resources to be configured according to the reality of each intersection, that is, fully customized. In addition, they have a panel with a graphic display that allows easy configuration of the equipment.

The company sells three models of traffic controllers, they are:

FCA Modular: it is ideal for simpler crossings, with excellent cost-benefit. Besides that, it has a tilting panel that facilitates maintenance and access to components. Operates with vehicle detectors with up to 4 loops. The equipment can still have up to two pedestrian buttons.

CD 200 Plug in: designed for cities with high traffic volume, capable of meeting the demand of complex intersections.  Plug-in modules are tool-free and easy to maintain. The equipment also operates with virtual detectors through cameras and can be connected to the Real-Time Adaptive SCATS system.

CD 300 Vanguard: Digicon’s most innovative traffic controller, operates with UTMC Protocol 2, which allows connection to the SCOOT real-time system and also to SCATS. With up to 24 phases and easy configuration for different types of flow. Allows the programming of up to 4 virtual controllers.

Both have an aluminum cabinet with epoxy-powder painting and mounting on columns or base, embedded programmer, 110 – 240 VAC, 50 or 60 Hz operation, GPS clock synchronisms, and monitoring of conflicting greens and burnt out red lamps. All Controller models allow connection to the WEB Traffic Center, which allows the total management of equipment with a cloud system.

Central Traffic Vision Web: all system operations in one software

In addition to these controllers, the company also provides Traffic Vision Web, which allows you to monitor and manage traffic controllers in real time, allowing the generation of reports with all system operations. With graphic software on a web platform, with view of maps and zoom of areas and intersections, which allows operation by multi-users with different levels of access through passwords.

For the Director of Urban Mobility at Digicon, Hélgio Trindade Filho, the launch of Central Web, held in 2020, was a technological advance for the company: “Today it is possible to make traffic schedules 100% online, everything synchronized. Almost every city with more than 50 thousand inhabitants has a control center. For example: Central Web stores everything in the cloud. With that, the control of the information flow is bigger and more dynamic. All this is stored, allowing the generation of various reports and enabling data analysis. This system ends up being less costly, as it requires less maintenance, which is an advantage for city halls”, he explains.

The Intelligent Virtual Traffic Light Detector operates through cameras located next to the traffic lights, which identify the number of vehicles that are close to it and help in the flow of traffic, reducing unnecessary waiting times. Flexible equipment, easy to install and maintain, in addition to presenting excellent performance even in situations of low visibility such as fog, rain and at night.

Digicon’s BSD 300 Sound Button emits a sound signal for pedestrians with visual impairments to cross and has 6 time slots for determining the activation, deactivation and limitation of the sound signal, when in sound mode during the day. The Digicon sound button is approved by CONTRAN.

Finally, the Adaptive Real-Time Traffic Control System (ACTS) allows for automatic changes in the controllers’ operating parameters to optimize the flow of vehicles. With this, it reduces delays and congestion, increasing the average speed of the road, in addition to reduce fuel consumption and, consequently, pollutant emissions. The system allows full integration with the controllers of the CD 200 Plug in and CD 300 Vanguard Line, enabling the best cost-benefit ratio in the market for the implementation and maintenance of these systems.

Digicon also offers technical assistance services with national coverage, guaranteeing the perfect functioning of its mobility solutions. The partner training program includes the implementation and maintenance of traffic lights, maintenance of modules and parts, training, assisted operation service (which reduces the initial impact of the new systems on the customer’s operations), consulting, projects and studies for traffic lights revitalization.
