Digicon installs first intelligent traffic control system in Rio de Janeiro.

Understanding the mobility of cities and assisting in a more harmonious coexistence between modals is a challenge of our century. That’s why Digicon’s Urban Mobility division creates solutions that improves city life and ensure quality of life for people.

An example of this is the Urban Traffic Management System (SCATS) for the city of Duque de Caxias. The equipment uses real-time adaptive mode operating technology, which works through the use of cameras, capable of reading the flow of vehicles approaching the semaphore intersections and sending the data to the control center, which uses advanced software that lets you keep the signal open automatically when the flow requires it.

As a whole 30 intelligent controllers will be installed. In the first phase, which is due to be completed in December,  18 will be installed, including three in Xerém.

The city secretary of Security Policies explains that the system will work autonomously, independent of interference from operators. “It will be able to minimize congestion caused by timers with fixed time that do not meet the demand on the roads, in addition to ensuring a better distribution of traffic light times on approaches. It will also considerably decrease travel time between traffic lights,” they claim. Our business partner Sinal Vida de Recife was at Digicon’s side on this project to improve the life of Duque de Caxias citizens.
