A destination for millions of tourists, Floripa Airport innovates with Digicon.
Zurich Airports, operator of the Florianópolis airport, relied on Digicon’s innovation to manage and automate the boarding of passengers.
In addition to access to the most charming island in Brazil and its almost 50 beaches, the Hercílio Luz airport in Florianópolis, now called Floripa Airport, is a strategic point for the economy of southern Brazil. In 2018 alone there were almost 4 million passengers circulating at the airport. Zurich Airport took over the operation in January 2018 for 30 years. And the starting point was in the current terminal, where it has already invested BRL 5 million to improve efficiency and comfort. Currently, Zurich Airport operates 7 airports around the world, present, in addition to Zurich, Bogotá, Curacao, two airports in Chile, Florianópolis and Belo Horizonte.
DIGICON INNOVATION
Digicon supplied and installed dFlow BCBP (Bar Coded Boarding Pass) equipment responsible for controlling passengers entering the airport boarding area. 5 dFlow passageways were installed to tend to domestic and international boardings and another unit to be left in the airport’s test laboratory.
DIFFERENTIALS With the dFlow’s exclusive sensor, wider and safer passages will be allowed, assuring total accessibility, with maximum fraud control (tailgaters). Thus, the operator will reduce the number of agents for the manual reading of boarding passes, reducing lines, increasing the inflow of passengers and, of course, reducing their costs.
INTEGRATING PARTNER The partner to perform the software integration between Digicon and Floripa Airport was SITA, an American company known worldwide for supplying of technology for airports around the world. Digicon installed dFlow BCBP integrated with the SITA software at the beginning of July, allowing making queries of flights, confirmation of schedules and clearing the boarding of passengers possible.
STATUS OF THE FACILITIES Digicon’s BCBP dFlows were already installed in July 2019 integrated with the SITA software for consulting of flight information. Digicon’s solution has already undergone two successful tests to validate the processes of the new terminal before opening to the public. The new terminal at Florianópolis Airport will be inaugurated in October 2019.
