Aeroporto de Porto Alegre comes to a great moment in its history, with innovations in all areas.
The company choice to optimize and expedite the boarding of passengers was Digicon.
The Aeroporto Internacional de Porto Alegre Salgado Filho is the largest and busiest airport of Rio Grande do Sul and the ninth busiest in Brazil in number of passengers.
With a total area of 850.000 m², it is a central airport like few in the world, because it is 10 minutes from most of the main attractions of the Rio Grande do Sul capital.
The airport complex was awarded to the private sector in 2017 in an international bidding process in which Fraport AG – a German company with a high global reputation in the sector – won the concession.
The company took over the management of the airport precisely in July 28, 2017, and since then has made several improvements to the airport’s infrastructure in order to turn it into a modern, efficient and customer-focused service & coexistence center.
DIGICON: INNOVATION AND SAFETY FACILITATING THE BOARDING OF PASSENGERS IN PORTO ALEGRE
Digicon will supply and install for Fraport 13 dFlow BCBP (Bar Coded Boarding Pass) passageways to meet domestic (9 passageways) and international (4 passageways), enabling the control and management of passengers entering the boarding area.
ADVANTAGES
Digicon equipment reduces the number of agents (thus reducing operational costs) for manual reading of Boarding Passes, reducing lines and increasing the inflow to the boarding area. In addition, other dFlow differentials – such as sensors that allow wider and safer passages – ensure total accessibility with maximum fraud control (tailgaters), even operating with doors normally closed for airport security issues.
TECHNOLOGICAL INTEGRATION
SITA is a world-renowned company specializing in the airport market for which it also provides a consulting software (PAXSEC) that is installed in Florianópolis, Porto Alegre and Fortaleza. The PAXSEC allows the consultation and information of flights, such as status of flights, schedules, boarding gates, etc. SITA worked together with Fraport in the choice of dFlow BCBP thus converging to a complete solution (hardware and software).
INSTALLATION TIME
The Digicon equipment were installed in September/2019, and were integrated with the SITA Software (PAXSEC) for consulting of flight information. They should start the integrated operation still in September, well in time for tests and approvals, since the new terminal at Aeroporto de Porto Alegre is scheduled to open in October of this year.
