Congonhas Airport bets on technology to facilitate the boarding of passengers
The innovation was provided with the installation of Digicon’s BCBP dFlow gates.
Congonhas Airport is the second largest airport in Brazil in number of passengers. Managed by Infraero, it is a symbol for the city of São Paulo and for aviation lovers, especially for its architecture and central location in the city.
Digicon as the winner of the bid, together with Infraero to provide automation for passenger boarding, was the supplier of the technological solution with BCBPdFlowgates, which stands for “Bar Coded Boarding Pass”. The technology allows the boarding pass to be read and checked by the system, guaranteeing the operation’s security. Through this same bidding, these new gateshad already been installed and are working at Santos Dumont Airport, in Rio de Janeiro. Now it is the turn of Congonhas Airport to follow this world trend.
In this project, 13 BCBPdFlowgates were supplied, reaching 10 lanes, with reading of boarding passes through Bar and QR Codes. With the automated system, the access check is done by the passenger itself, in a fast and safe way, by approaching the boarding pass to the reader.
There are manybenefitson using the system. Besides the more agile, fast and safeboarding, reducing queues and agglomerations, the contact between users and the gates is avoided, a measure highly recommended in times of pandemic.
Held in November 2020, the installation was a joint effort of the Airport’s technical team, which prepared the infrastructure, and Digicon’s technical team, that performed the installation of the gates and its activation, in addition to performing an assisted operation in the first days of activity.
