Digicon taking off: another major airport believes in the technology that goes beyond.
Since the beginning of 2020, Digicon is servicing the Santos Dumont Airport boarding control in Rio de Janeiro.
Digicon solutions for departure terminals already make a difference by improving passenger flow of five major Brazilian airports, in addition to the terminals served at airports in Bolivia. Now it is time to take another partner beyond, with the boarding system upgrade at Santos Dumont Airport, in Rio de Janeiro.
With a flow of half a million passengers per month, Santos Dumont operates more than 260 daily flights in its terminals. The airport complex occupies an area of 833,703 m², constructed area of terminal is 19,000 m², being the seventh largest airport in Brazil.
In 2019, Santos Dumont Airport went through a series of renovations to implement improvements to its operations. This time, INFRAERO – Empresa Brasileira de Infraestrutura Aeroportuária, the airport operator, aims to modernize the boarding areas that receive thousands of passengers in Rio de Janeiro. Digicon was chosen as the strategic partner to carry on these plans.
EXPERIENCE IN INNOVATION
Digicon has respectful footprint in controlling large flows of people in Brazilian airports. With several successful cases, the company is the ideal partner for deployment of improvements that provide more safety and comfort to the operation.
ADVANTAGES OF THE NEW PARTNERSHIP
The dFlow BCBP (Bar Coded Boarding Pass) installed at the airport reduces queues and optimizes passenger flow, as it automates the reading and validation of each user’s boarding passes. With this process automation, security is increased, since it is possible to perform the complete screening of passengers who pass through the gates and, with more accurate tracking system, avoids frauds like tailgating and piggybacking.
Moreover, the equipments are developed to offer more comfort to the user, with wider and more accessible passageways, including for passengers with luggage and/or on wheelchairs.
INSTALLATION OF EQUIPMENTS Due to the decrease of users flow as a result of the crisis generated by COVID-19, INFRAERO chose to take advantage of the moment to start the improvements at Santos Dumont Airport. Digicon carried out the deployment of solution between May and June 2020.
